$654,000 Jury Verdict in West Palm Beach, Florida
GCF's Personal Injury Group obtained a verdict against State Farm Insurance Company in West Palm Beach following a four day jury trial. Despite clear medical evidence of permanent injury, State Farm refused to offer any compensation. After deliverating only two hours, the jury awarded $654,000 in recognition of the harm suffered by the victim.
Will Dispute Settlement
GCF successfully represented a client who maintained that her sister was taken advantage of by an outsourced caregiver who improperly influenced her to change her Last Will and Testament shortly before she died. The new Will gave nearly all of the assets and personal property to the caregiver, and nothing to the family. GCF sued the caregiver to invalidate the Will on the grounds that the client's sister was unduly influenced to change her Will and disinherit her family. As a result of the investigation, a settlement was reached whereby the Client received approximately half of her late sister's assets and all of her sister's personal property, which included over $150,000.00 in family jewelry.
$974,000 settlement for 76 year old client after suffering a fall in a parking lot
The GCF Personal Injury Group recovered $974,000 on behalf of a 76 year old lady who fell into a hole that had been dug into the pavement of a parking lot, which caused her to suffer a broken hip and other injuries. Our client was a patron at an evening charity event being held on the grounds of a local high school. After parking her car and while walking through the parking lot she fell into a hole in the pavement. Our investigation revealed that the contractor who dug up the pavement failed to follow local ordinances when replacing the pavement, which caused the hole in the pavement. Additionally, the school failed to properly inspect the area or at least prevent the public from having access to the area. Fortunately, the settlement allowed our client to receive the treatment she needed and to care for her family.
$533,000 Awarded to Tobacco Claimants
The Personal Injury Group collected $533,000.00 on behalf of individuals who were injured as a result of cigarette smoking. For decades Big Tobacco concealed the dangerous effects of cigarette smoking from the public. Following a lengthy civil trial which found the Tobacco industry guilty of defrauding the public and negligence, a trust fund was established to compensate individuals who died from cigarette smoking or currently suffer from certain ailments like Cancer or COPD. We represented our clients throughout the claims filing process wherein every application we filed was approved for payment. The Trust Fund ultimately made three separate distributions to our clients, which compensated them for their injuries and suffering.
$2.4 Milllion Dollar Settlement for Motor Vehicle Crash
GCF's Personal Injury Group recently recovered 2.4 million dollars on behalf of a young mother whose leg was nearly amputated in an automobile accident. The collision was caused by a 17 year old driver who failed to observe our client's vehicle, which was parked with the emergency flashers on because of a minor fender bender accident. Within a few minutes after the fender bender accident, the 17 year old driver approached the scene, failed to stop, and drove her vehicle into the rear of our client's vehicle while our client was standing in front of it, which caused her leg to get trapped between the front bumper of her car and the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of her car. Fortunately, the settlement proceeds allowed our client to obtain medical care from a leading orthopedic reconstructive surgeon and to establish a family trust to provide for her medical care and young son.
